Funeral Services Held In Colfax Monday With Interment in Colfax Cemetery.

Frank D. Kelley, 62, died Friday, August 23rd at San Gabriel, California. The body was returned to Colfax where funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Cutter- Hartnett-Bumgardner Funeral home.

Frank Dean Kelley was born in Mound Prairie Township in Jasper County, Iowa, on the 6th day of January 1884 and lived in Jasper County until he reached manhood. He was the son of Thomas F. and Jessie B. Kelley, both of whom are deceased. He had four brothers, Roy, John, Jay and Arch, of whom Roy and Arch survive him.

Mr. Kelley was married to Miss Lela Conkling in 1918 and thereafter made their home in Woodward, Ia, where they were engaged in the furniture and undertaking business, until about five years ago when they became residents of southern California, where Mr. Kelley lived until the time of his death at 20 minutes after nine o'clock on the evening of August 23rd, 1946. The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, which happened somewhat suddenly.

There were two daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. Kelley in Woodward, I Georgia Kelley of San Gabriel, Cal., and Margaret, Mrs. Lloyd Wright of Woodward, Iowa. They also have, a son Jon at home in San Gabriel.

About 26 years ago, Mr. Kelley, united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Woodward, Iowa and during his lifetime was earnestly concerned with religion and civic matters, taking a deep interest in the affairs of his community and its welfare.

Who once was his friend remained his ever remembered friend.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p. m. at the Cutter-Hartnett-Bumgardner Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Potter Officiating. Interment was at the Colfax cemetery.

Music was furnished by Miss Eleanor Howell.

Pall bearers were Charles Butler, Glen Butler, Wayne Butler, Harry Butler, Rudy Hurlock and Berne Neal.

(Note: according to the Funeral Home records the date of death is Aug. 28, 1946.)

Dean Kelley Dies Unexpectedly Of Stroke In Calif.

Funeral services will be held from the Baumgardner Funeral Chapel in Colfax, at 2:00 p: m., Monday, for Dean Kelley, who was a former Colfax and Newton resident.

Mr. Kelley died very suddenly of a stroke, shortly after his arrival at the hospital in San Gabriel, Calif., on Wednesday.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kelley, farmers residing east of Colfax, was born Jan. 6, 1884 and died Aug. 28, 1946, aged 62 years, seven months and 22 days.

Mr. Kelley will be remembered in Newton as being associated with the Baum-McLaughlin Undertaking establishment here, later he went to Woodward, Ia., where he operated a funeral home and for the past several years has been a representative of an Undertaking Equipment concern, of St. Louis, with California as his territory.

Survivors include his widow, of San Gabriel, a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Wright of near Woodward, Ia., two brothers, Roy Kelley, former Newton county attorney, of Des Moines, and Arch Kelley, of West Des Moines, who is in military Service.
