Gone To Rest
Keating, EllenPrairie City Mrs. Ellen Keating, after lingering for many weary months with that dread disease consumption, died at her home in this city, Friday morning, September 27, 1895, at half past eight o’clock, surrounded by her children and a large circle of loving friends. Mother Keating, as she is familiarly known, has lived here a long time and by her kind, loving words and deeds was beloved by all who knew her. Sixteen years ago the husband and father was removed by death, since which time she has lived with and for her children and in her past months of helplessness, those children have proved their gratitude and showed their deep love in supplying every need and comfort within human powers. The funeral took place from the home Saturday at 3 p. m., Father Quinn of Newton, conducting the services.
He giveth his loved ones sleep.
He sees when their footsteps falter,
When their hearts grow weak and faint;
He marks when their strength is failing,
And listens to each complaint.He bids them rest for a season,
For the pathway has grown too steep;
And folded in fair, green pastures
He giveth his loved ones sleep.Weep not, that their toils are over;
Weep not that their race is run.
God grant we may rest as calmly when our work
Like theirs, is done.Till then we would yield, with gladness,
Our treasures to Him to keep.
And rejoice in the sweet assuranceOriginally submitted on Sat Jan 18 20:33:42 2003
