Jumper, A. Jackson

A. J. Jumper, a respected citizen of Richland Township for over thirty years, died at his home north of Lynnville at 11:30 o’clock last Friday morning, July 8th, aged 63 years. His death was very sudden and caused a feeling of gloom throughout his neighborhood. He was prostrated by heat on Wednesday, followed by violent illness from which he never rallied death ending his sufferings on Friday morning. Mr. Jumper was a native of Maryland. In 1858 he was married to Miss Susannah Bailey in Mercer County, Ill., who with three daughters survive him Mrs. Sarah Malloy of Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Florence Poots of Kansas, and Mrs. Jane Snyder in Richland Township.

Mr. Jumper was known among his neighbors as a straight-forward, honest and conscientious man and a Christian in the truest sense. The funeral was held at the Bethel M. E. Church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Colyer of Lynnville.
