Funeral Services To Be Held From Cutter-Hartnett Bumgardner Chapel Today.
Charles Pete Junis, businessman of this city, was called by death at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines (IA) Tuesday, August 6th, 1946, at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 18 days. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Born Oct. 18, 1882 in Athens, Greece, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Junis, he came to this country and on Dec. 10, 1909, was united in marriage to Emma Boch, at Portage, Wisconsin.
A resident of Jasper County for more than thirty five years, Mr. Junis operated candy kitchens in both Newton and Colfax and in recent years had completed construction of a new building which houses his present place of business in this city.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Junis of Colfax, a sister, Kathryn Junis and one brother, Alex, both of whom are living in Athens Greece.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2:00 p. m. from the Cutter-Hartnett-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel in Colfax, with the Rev. Paul K. Potter, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Graveside services will be held by the. I. O. O. F. Lodge of Newton, of which he was a member. Pall bearers will be six members of the lodge.
Interment will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
