Hager, Minnie
This worthy lady died at her home in Baxter, on Saturday, September 21, 1895, aged about 68 years. Mrs. Hager was born in Germany in 1827, and left the home of her birth in 1853, landing in New York, in which state she resided for two years. In 1855 she came to Dubuque, Iowa, where the following year she was united in marriage to Simon Hager. They afterward lived in Allamakee County for a number of years, coming to Jasper County in 1868, where they settled on a large farm near Baxter.
Mr. Hager died in 1876. Mrs. Hager continued to live on the farm until 1891, since which time she has lived in Baxter.
Her illness was very brief only about a week. Funeral was from the residence, on Tuesday, Sept. 24th, conducted by Rev. G. D. Elliker of Oregon, Ill., assisted by Revs. Scheidt, Kirkiefer and Shull, of Baxter, and a large number of friends followed the remains to the German Cemetery, where they were laid to rest beside her husband.
Mrs. Hager was a good woman in the fullest sense of the term, and her loss is felt not only by her immediate family and relatives, but by a large circle of friends and neighbors, to whom long years of intimate relations have greatly endeared her.
