Marie, as she was affectionately known by relatives and friends was installed as Worthy Matron of Rose of Sharon Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in January, and those present will always remember the radiance of charm which surrounded her on that occasion and the look of joy on her face at the loving tribute paid her at that time by her, son, Elmer Watkins. She was a member of the Christian Church and took an active part in the women’s Council and other services (text missing) way more than ready to go the help of a neighbor or friend.

Cooney of Hampton and two brothers, Henry and Jake Miles of Newton, survive. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also mourn her passing.
