MRS. HARRIET GREGG DIED SUNDAY AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
Gregg, HarrietFuneral Services Held Wednesday Afternoon From Colfax Christian Church.
Mrs. Harriet Gregg, 87, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. D. Pettit, at Rogers, Arkansas, where she had resided the past two years. Mrs. Gregg suffered a stroke a few years ago but recovered sufficiently to enjoy life and was in her usual health until a few weeks before her passing.
Mrs. Harriett Gregg was born in Yorkshire, England, March 14th, 1859, and came to the United States in 1884. She passed away Sunday, Sept. 8th, 1946 at Rogers, Arkansas, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 5 days.
Mrs. Gregg was a resident of Colfax and surrounding community for 62 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in early life and attended the Christian Church in Colfax for many years.
Two years ago Mrs. Gregg went to Rogers, Arkansas to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. L. D. Pettit.
Mrs. Gregg is survived by seven children, Harry and Meschak Gregg of Colfax; Charles Gregg of Almeda, California; Mrs. C. B. Reed of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. L. D. Pettit, of Rogers, Ark.; Mrs. Verl Hite of Traer, Iowa; Miss Maude Gregg of Newton; 19 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren, 14 grandsons were in the service, one making the supreme sacrifice.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1901 and two daughters, Manila, who died in 1924 and Annie, who died in infancy.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Christian Church in Colfax with Rev. S. G. Williams officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. George Rinker, with Mrs. Howard Williams, accompanist.
Pall bearers were Frank, Ronald and Robert Gregg, Clifford Allen, Williams and Charles Hite. Honorary bearers, Richard Gregg, Russell Allen, Herbert Gregg, Basil Reed and John Snyder.
Flower committee: Mrs. John Pratt, Sr., Mrs. Lina Hunter, and Mrs. Gus DeCamp.
