Death of Mother Fraker
Fraker, Rachel (Milburn)

Mrs. Geo. W. Fraker died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Janeway, in Palo Alto Tp., on Tuesday, Sept. 13th, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Rachel Milburn was born in Milburnton, Green County, Tenn., February 5, 1823. She was untied in marriage to George W. Fraker, Feb. 7, 1846. She was a daughter of the Rev. Joseph Milburn and was the eldest of ten children, and in childhood began a life of toil and faithful service, which continued to the beginning of her last illness.

She was converted and joined the M. E. Church in her tenth year and remained a faithful and devout member of the same till the Master called her to her reward. She was the mother of nine children, two of whom preceded her in death. Six of her children with her aged companion were with her in her last illness Joseph, Warner, James, Thos. and Will Fraker and Mrs. Mary Janeway. One daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Briggs lives in Virginia. One brother, Jonathan Milburn resides near Kellogg.

She was careful to see that her children were all dedicated to God by baptism in infancy; she then trained them by prayer, example and precept, so that as they have grown in years they rise up to call her blessed. She was indeed a faithful wife, a loving mother and a neighbor that commanded the love and respect of all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at Hixson Grove Chapel, Thursday, Sept. 15th, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. Handy, assisted by Rev. C. V. Cowan, a large number of friends being present. The remains were laid to rest in Slagle Cemetery.

Rest has come to her oft wearied body and her redeemed soul has gone to rejoice forever in the presence of God.
