RALPH T. FOSTER DIES THIS MORN; SATURDAY RITES
Ralph T. FosterRalph T. Foster, age 71, of 1401 Prince St., died early Thursday morning at a local hospital following a brief illness and hospitalization of one week.
He was the son of Ben W. and Anna Burch Foster and was born in Chester Township, Poweshiek county, on June 10, 1893. He attended the local rural schools near his family farm home. He was married to Ethel Vida Vaught in Grinnell on Sept. ll, 1915, and to this union were born six children: Wilbur Foster of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Lawrence (Clara) Wallis of Newburg, Orville Foster of Newton, Bennie Foster of Fairfield, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Binegar of Grinnell; Mrs. Ed (Edna) Erickson of Marshalltown.
Mrs. Foster farmed in the Newburg community 35 years, and had lived all of his life in the Grinnell area. His wife, died on March 16, 1957, and a year later Mr. Foster moved to Grinnell where he hd resided the last six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Earl; and three sisters - - - Mrs. Mae Chenowetrh, Mrs. Angie Clindinin, and Mrs. Fannie Huff; also one grandson.
He is survived by his six children, 19 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Also surviving are four brothers - - - Ray, Roy, Clarence, and Fenton Foster, all of Grinnell; and two sisters - - - Mrs. W. M. (Elsie) Erwin of Marshalltown and Mrs. John (Grace) Harter of Grinnell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester E. Custer of the Grinnell Methodist church officiating. Burial will be made in Hazelwood cemetery.
