DEATH CLAIMS MRS. C. S. FERGUSON SUNDAY
Mrs. C. S. Ferguson, 82, who has been in failing health for the past few months, died Sunday, March 7th at the Skiff hospital in Newton. Death came at 4:00 am Sunday morning, Mrs. Ferguson having been taken to the hospital February 2nd following a stroke at her home here in Colfax.

Emma Louise Richards, daughter of William and Mary Richards, was born October 17, 1871 at Markeson, Wisc. and with the family moved to Livermore, Iowa. She has been a resident of Colfax for the past twenty-eight years.

She was united in marriage to Chas. S. Ferguson in November, 1894 at Curlew, Iowa. Her husband preceeded her in death on March 10, 1932.

Mrs. Ferguson was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Christian church. She took great pride in her family and devoted her life as an inspiration and example to her children. She was quick to lend a helping hand where assistance was needed and her willingness to help others will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Survivors include one son, George Ferguson of Ottumwa, Ia., a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Graham of this city, one brother, Frank Richards of Tacoma, Wash., two sisters, Nettie Lindsay of Cavour, So. Dakota and Dora Wilcox of Belmond, Iowa. Three grandchildren, Don Ferguson of Spencer, Ia., Chas. Ferguson, a senior student at the State University of Iowa, and Joyce Graham of this city also survive, along with one great grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, March 9th from the Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Bobbitt, pastor of the local church and Rev. R.W. Phillips, minister of her church at Ottumwas officiating.

Music was furnished by Gomer Williams as soloist with Miss Eleanor Howell, accompanist. Bearers were Paul Johnes, Ralph DeReus, Roge Ruggless, Charles Sage, DeVere Cleveland and M. C. Marquiss. Mrs. M. A. Binkerd and Mrs. George Rinker were in charge of the floral arrangements. Burial was in the Colfax (IA) Cemetery.
