MRS. EGBERT FERRIS DIES AT HOSPITAL FRIDAY MARCH 29th

A Diabetic Sufferer Had Leg Amputated In Effort To prolong Life.

Mrs. Egbert Ferris, 71, died Friday, March 29th at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton, where she had been a patient for several weeks following the amputation of her left leg February 23rd due to a gangrenous condition caused from diabetes. Mrs. Ferris had been ill for a long time before entering the hospital.

Elnorah Ferris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Shelinbarger was born near Newton, Iowa July 6th in the year 1874 and passed from us while a patient at the Skiff Hospital in Newton, Iowa at 2:15 p. m. on March 29th, 1946 at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 23 days.

She lived most of her life in Jasper County and in 1891 she was united in marriage to Egbert Ferris at Colfax, Iowa.

Mrs. Ferris was baptized in the Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, two daughters, Mrs. Amelia Davidson of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Mabel Lowery also of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Sill and Mrs. Anna Niles, and one brother, Ellsworth Shelinbarger, all of Wichita, Kansas.

Three children, Roy, Floyd and Egbert preceded her in death and her husband who passed away in the year 1943. Beside these relatives, which are mentioned, there remain a company of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Cutter-Hartnett-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Paul Potter, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. Floyd Hulse provided the music and Mrs. Dave Owens and Mrs. Curtis Shissler were in charge of the flowers.

Pall bearers were William Gibson, Frank Davidson, Francis Gibson, Curtis Shissler, Tom Naisbit and Ioan Jones. Interment was in the: McKeever cemetery.

COLFAX-Funeral services were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon for Elnorah Ferris, 71, who died at the Skiff Memorial hospital at Newton Friday afternoon. Services were to be conducted from the Bumgardner Funeral home here, with the Rev. Paul K. Potter, pastor of the Colfax Methodist church, in charge. Interment was to be in the McKeever cemetery.

Mrs. Ferris was born July 6, 1874, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Shelinbarger. She was preceded in death by her husband and three children, Roy, Floyd and Egbert.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Lowery and Mrs. Amelia Davidson of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Sill and Mrs. Anna Niles of Wichita, Kans, and a brother, Ellsworth Shelinbarger.
