DES MOINES, Iowa - Reina Rae Favors, 46, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died of a heart attack, Saturday, Dec. 26, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home chapel in Des Moines. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where family will be present today from 5 to 9 p.m.

Memorials to Planned Parenthood of Central Iowa will be accepted.

The daughter of Charles E. and Marjorie M. Richards of Newton, she was born in Newton and was a graduate of Iowa Methodist School of Nursing.

She was employed by Planned Parenthood of greater Iowa for nearly 23 years where she began as a registered staff nurse, managed the Des Moines Central Clinic for three years and currently was the regional director of nursing practitioners. She was a member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Reproductive Health, serving on the group's board since 1985; the advanced practice committee of the Iowa Board of Nursing; a project coordinator for the Iowa Department of Health's Hepatitis B vaccination project; and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.

Survivors include her parents; a son, Matthew of Des Moines; two sisters, Karen Sanders of Cleveland, Tenn. and Michelle Marlowe of Des Moines; and a companion, Byron Gray of Des Moines.
