Robert H. Farrell, 78, of Newton died of heart failure Friday, October 5, 2001, at The Western Home In Cedar Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with Father Ernie Braida officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., at the church. A Vigil Service will follow at 4:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Western Home, or to Cedar Valley Hospice and may be sent to the funeral home.

The son of Edward M. and Edna Clifford Farrell, he was born April 1, 1923, in Menlo. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1941. In, April of 1946, he married Aline Hudson in Kansas City, Kan. He served In the United States Navy during World War II. During the time he served, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked for the Maytag Corporation for 44 years. When he retired in 1986, he was an area supervisor in plating.
