Funeral Services Held From Bumgardner Funeral Chapel Monday Afternoon Edward "Ted" Evans, 78, died Friday, Nov 21, 1947, at the Jasper County home near Newton, following a general decline in health in the past few years.

Mr. Evans was born in Wales, December 18, 1868, coming to this country in early life working in the coalmines, but thirty years ago retired from active labor. He was unmarried and lived in different hotels in Colfax most of the time, and for a while made his home with the late Mrs. Harriett Gregg. The past two years he has been at the Colfax Sanitarium, until going to the county home last spring. Edward was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Evans of Wales. He leaves as relatives, one brother, Evan Evans of Des Moines, Iowa, one niece Mrs. Eleanor Eckard, Des Moines, and many friends and acquaintances in this community.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul K. Potter officiating.

Music was furnished by Jean Binkerd and Mable Kaldenberg. Pallbearers were Tom Hughes, Meschek Gregg, Wm. Thomas, Louis Edwards, Tom Naisbitt and Tom O'Connor.
