Mrs. Thomas Hedrick of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died Sunday, May 6, with paralysis. The remains was brought back from Kansas accompanied by her two daughters, Mrs. I. J. Jontz, Mrs. Will Jones and a son, Tom Hedrick. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Valeria M.E. church conducted by Rev. Cannon of Colfax. The body laid to rest in the Sams cemetery northeast of town.

Mrs. Thomas B. Hedrick
Julia Ellen Ferguson was born in Adams county, Illinois, November 4, 1849, and passed away May 6, 1917, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. M. O’Dell in Ft. Scott, Kansas, of paralysis. When 5 years old she moved with her parents to Jasper county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On March 25, she was united in marriage to Thomas B. Hedrick. They made their home in Jasper county until 1896 when they moved to St Clair county, Mo., where her companion passed away Feb. 15, 1916.
To this union was born 6 children; Novia H. of Kansas City, Mo.; Thomas G. and Wren R. of Collins, Mo.; Mrs. W. S. Jones, of Colfax, Iowa; Mrs. L. J. Jontz, of Lorimor, Iowa; and Mrs. E. M. O’Dell, of Ft. Scott, Kansas. Besides her children she leaves four brothers, one sister, three half-brothers, one half-sister, 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous friends to mourn her departure. Her son, Thomas G. and daughter, Mrs. W. S Jones accompanied the remains to Valeria. They were joined at Lorimor, Iowa by Mr. I. J. Jontz, wife and daughter, Nondyse.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Valeria Wednesday, May 9, 1917, conducted by Rev. Cannon, of Colfax. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Sams Cemetery.
