HENNINGER

Another home is saddened by the loss of loved ones. Kenneth W., and Hiram Harvey, infant sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henninger, passed away within the past week, the former 29 months and the latter almost a year old – sweet little blossoms that made the home so happy until death took then – Hiram first on Friday of last week and Kenneth last Sunday. The funeral was from the M.E. church in Valeria and the little ones are at rest in the Sams cemetery. The tender sympathy of friends and neighbors has been freely extended the bereft young parents, but it is powerless to lift the load of grief with which their hearts are filled, and which only yields to the softenening touch of time.

On Friday and Sunday of last week death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henninger, of near Valeria. Friday their one-years-old baby died, and on Sunday morning death re-entered the home taking from them their two-year-old child. The death of the latter was the result of the child being stung on the head by bees.

15 Sept 1899 – 07 Sept 1900 (correct); 15 Sept 1898 – 07 Sept 1899 (headstone)
The birth and death dates on the stone appear to be incorrect. Hiram's birth certificate shows Heninger male, born Sept 15, 1899 in Poweshiek Twp, Jasper County, Iowa, son of Fred Heninger and Della Shissler. Also the 1900 census (same residence) taken June 19, 1900, lists Hiram H., age 8 months, birth date, Sep 1899. Therefore, his correct birth and death dates are Sep 15, 1899 - Sep 7, 1900. Surname on stone is Henninger
