Accidental Death
It was reported on the street Saturday afternoon that Hi Hand had been killed in a runaway. The facts, however, are that his father, Arthur Hand, who resides in Clear Creek Twp., was thrown out of a wagon from which he was unloading corn, by the team suddenly starting up, being frightened by an unusually loud clap of thunder. From the effects of the fall he received he died Saturday.
The funeral was held yesterday and the remains were laid to rest in the Greencastle cemetery.
Mr. Hand was a brother-in-law of B. Battels of this city, and has been a resident of the county since 1855. He was in his seventy-fifth year. A wife and five daughters survive him. He was well thought of by all who knew him and his sudden death came as a shock to his many friends.
(His stone is in Sams Cemetery)
