COLFAX – Funeral services for Josiah Michael “Poe” Gannon, 20, of rural Colfax, who was injured fatally in an automobile accident Thursday near Colfax, were held today, Dec. 11, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Joseph Roost, parish priest, conducted services and burial was in Sams Cemetery in rural Mingo.
Wake service and visitation with the family were held Sunday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorials in his name will be accepted.
Survivors are his parents, Michael J. and Brenda L. of rural Colfax; two brothers, Joshua Michael and Shane Michael, both of rural Colfax; his paternal grandparents, John and Helen Gannon of rural Colfax; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Margaret Beals of rural Colfax; and a special friend, Emily Brown of the Colfax area.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
A 1993 graduate of Colfax-Mingo Community High School, he attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City for a year and attended Iowa State University in Ames for a year, where he was an honor student.
At the time of his death, he was a student and was employed at Ecco Tech Construction.
The son of Mike J. and Brenda L. Beals Gannon, he was born July 29, 1975 in Des Moines.
He was a lifelong resident of rural Colfax.
