Died – At his home in this city, on Sunday morning last, Oliver Perry Bridges, of consumption, aged 26 years and six months. Perry was born and raised in Jasper county, and has always been highly respected and esteemed by those who have known him.
For some time his friends have known that that fell destroyer, consumption, had marked him for its victim, and it was only a matter of a short time when the summons would come calling him hence.
Since the first of January last, he has been unable to leave his room, and for about three months has been confined to his bed. He has borne all his sufferings with Christian patience and fortitude, and when the messenger came, he was ready to go – leaving the brightest evidence that he had entered into that better life, where sorrow, pain and death are not known.
He was the oldest son of Green and Sarah Bridges. Was married about 2 years ago to Miss Louisa Foreman.
To the parents, young wife, and other friends, we offer our sympathy. The funeral took place from the residence of the father Monday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. R. A. Carnine, after which the remains were taken to the family burying ground, about 6 mile northwest of town, for interment.
The relatives of the deceased desire to extend their thanks to the many kind friends who were with them during their trouble, and by their noble and generous acts of kindness helped to lighten their burden of sorrow.
