MRS. MARY E. CORDRAY DIES AT AGE OF 90 YEARS
Cordray, Mary E. (Hand)Lifetime Resident Of Colfax And Mingo; Funeral Service Held Wednesday Afternoon.
Mrs. Mary E. Cordray, 90, died at her home in east Colfax Sunday following an extended illness due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Cordray spent a lifetime in the Colfax and Mingo communities.
Born January 2, 1857 near Mingo, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur A. and Susan Myers Hand, she died July 6, 1947, at her home in Colfax, aged 90 years, 6 months and 4 days.
She was married in about 1890 to Alpheus E. Cordray at Newton, Iowa. Four children were born to this union. Her husband and three children, Kittie Pearl, Frank H. and Elsie preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Hugh, of Colfax at home, one brother, Edward B. Hand, besides nephews and nieces and other relatives. She was of the Apostolic faith and, also a member of the Jasper county Three-quarter Century club.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bumgardner Funeral Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev. I. R. Bowers of Newton officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. George Robinson and Mrs. Floyd Hulse.
Flower committee: Mrs. Thomas Johnson.
Pall bearers were: Milo Smith, Otto Goodman, M. E. Penquite, Ralph Cummings, Robert McQuiston and George Halliwill.
Burial was in the Greencastle Cemetery.
