At about six o’clock last Wednesday evening, George W. Coply, mayor of that place, died at his home in Mitchellville, surrounded by his family. He had been failing for several years and for some time has been but a shadow of his former self. His malady was diabetes. He was one of the best-known men in eastern Polk County, and has been a prominent character for many years. The funeral took place from his late residence at two o’clock this afternoon, being conducted by Crystal Lodge, No. 313, A. F. & A. M., and many member of the fraternity from Colfax attended ­ Colfax Clipper.
