Merrill Gibson Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Colfax – Merrill Gibson, 77, of Colfax, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Wednesday at the Embassy Manor in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Edward Susic, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Irene; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Darlene) Meeks of Colfax; and a grandson, Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Gibson, a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church, was a retired employe of the Jasper County Road Department and had been employed at the Maytag Co. in Newton.
The son of Bert and Ella Vansice, he was born April 7, 1905 at Baxter.
He was married to Irene Maher Oct. 26, 1933 in Colfax.
