Death of Mrs. Annie CastorfCastorf, Annie (Voos)
Mrs. Annie Castorf died at the home of her son, Wm. Castorf, near Sully, Tuesday morning, April 13, 1897, at 5 o’clock. Grandma Castorf had no special ailment except old age and the end came gradually and peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.
Annie Voos was born in Prussia, Nov. 16, 1819, and came to America and Jasper County in 1857. Her husband, Mr. Carl Castorf died in May 1863. Four children are left to mourn the decease of their aged and love mother, Wm. and Fred Castorf, Mrs. Fred Andreas and an unmarried daughter, Betta, all of whom lived near the old homestead and are well provided with the comforts of this life. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Castorf had made her home with her son William.
The funeral services were held there Thursday morning, April 15, at 10 o’clock, Rev. Renaud officiating. Interment in the Hewitt Cemetery, near Galesburg.
The deceased declining years were spent in great peace and comfort, surrounded by her children and friends, and sustained by an unfaltering trust in her Savior, to whom she had given her heart when a young girl. She was a member of the German Lutheran Church for sixty-three years.
