Angels Beckoned Him Away
Carson, HenryHenry Carson was born near Prairie City Nov. 18, 1888, and died at his home in this city Feb. 6, 1899, being 10 years, 2 month and 18 days old.
Henry in early life learned to know and love his Savior. He received baptism in the Brethren Church last June. As this church is six miles from his home he has been a regular attendant of the M. E. Sunday school for the past four years. He was an active member of the Junior League, ever ready to respond to any call either of Sunday school or League. This exceptionally bright child will be missed in Sunday school, in the day school and in the entire community where he was a general favorite, but missed most of all in the home of the widowed mother who had built so much upon this young life cheering and comforting her in her old age. For this lonely, crushed and bleeding heart would we extend our deepest sympathy. None can know but those that have passed through the same terrible ordeal.
The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. Church, at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Martin assisted by other pastors of the city and one from the Brethren Church south of town.
The floral designs by his day school teacher and scholars and his Sunday school teachers and class, all of which attended the funeral in a body, were profuse and beautiful.
