Carrothers, Mary A. (Fowler)

Mary A. Carrothers, wife of William Carrothers, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Schmidt, in Des Moines, Tuesday evening, February 12, 1895, after a protracted illness of several months.

Mary A. Fowler was born on July 4, 1826, in Harrison County, Ohio; was married to William Carrothers, and with him moved to Jasper County, Iowa, about forty years ago; resided here until about thirteen years ago when with her husband moved to Des Moines where she has since resided.

Her husband and three children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother.

The remains were brought to this city Thursday morning and the funeral took place the same afternoon from the Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Newton Cemetery beside those of a son and daughter who had preceded the mother to the other shore.
