Rites for Newton Farmer Thursday
Wilbert William Schnathorst, 64, of RFD 1, Newton, passed away as a result of a heart attack Monday afternoon while visiting at the home of Wayne Tinnermeier, a neighbor.
Mr. Schnathorst, whose parents were August and Minnie Ebert Schnathorst, was born on Jan. 30, 1899 in Jasper County. He received his education in Jasper County schools. Mr. Schnathorst, who spent his lifetime in the county, was a farmer and brick mason.
On Jan. 11, 1922, he married Mamie Browning at the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Mr. Schnathorst was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Mamie, a son, Robert Schnathorst of Newton, a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Carolyn) Hobbs of Milwaukee, Wis., 2 brothers, Lloyd of Baxter and Vernon of Des Moines, one sister, Mrs. William (Marie) Eilert of Newton, and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Louis Grossen of the United Church of Christ, Melbourne, presiding. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home until noon Thursday after which time the remains will be taken to the church.
