Services Pending For Rita Martin
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed for Mrs. Lawrence H. (Rita Lea) Martin, 24, of Homestead, Fla., who was fatally injured in an automobile accident Monday while on her way to work.
The adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hasselbrink of Newton, Mrs. Martin was employed by the Department of Interior and was located at Everglades National Park for the past two years.
Johnson Funeral Home in Newton will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; who is stationed in Maryland; her father, George C. Hasselbrink; and step-mother, Mrs. George C. Hasselbrink; a sister, Mrs. Al (Lois) England; three half-brothers, Carl Louis, Gerald and Robert; a half-sister, Christie Hasselbrink, all of Villa Park, Ill., her adopted parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hasselbrink of Newton; and her maternal grandfather, I. S. (Scott) Smith of Newton.
Mrs. Martin was born May 9, 1937 in Baxter, the daughter of George and Gretchen Smith Hasselbrink. Her mother preceded her in death July 3, 1944.
She was married to Sp4 Lawrence H. Martin Aug. 5, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kellogg.
Mrs. Martin was a 1955 graduate of Kellogg High School.
