Mrs. Andrew Bell, Longtime Jasper Resident Dies
Mrs. Andrew (Mary) Bell, 84, a resident of Jasper County for more than 80 years, died Thursday afternoon at her home at 1001 S. 13th Ave. E.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home.
The Rev. Thomas Burke, minister of the Emanuel Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Emma) Weyers of Newton and Mrs. Ray (Letha) Nearmeyer of Newton; two sons, Ivan Bell of Colfax and Otis Bell of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Ed McCuen of Newton and Mrs. W. A. Nolin of Newton; a brother, Ed Haft of Newton; 25 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1937, a step-son, Glen Bell, and a sister.
She was a member of the Elk Creek Lutheran Church.
The daughter of John and Christine Kubbernus Haft, she was born Jan. 23, 1876 at Malcom.
She came to Reasnor at the age of two years and was educated in Jasper County schools.
She was married to Andrew Bell Sept. 30, 1903.
