Helene Evertsen Dies at Colfax; Services Monday
Colfax – Mrs. Christian (Helene C.) Evertsen, 92, a resident of the Colfax and Monroe communities for the past 14 years, died Friday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Raymond Bell, in Colfax.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Dale Nicholson, minister of the Colfax Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Marshalltown.
Mrs. Evertsen is survived by three sons, Michael and Clarence of Marshalltown and Hillman of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Johnson of Vancouver, Wash., 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Evertsen was a member of the Lutheran Church.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Bjornsen she was born at Stavanger, Norway, Nov. 8, 1869.
She was married to Christian C. Evertsen in 1891 in Chicago.
