Steven R. Patterson, 52, of Newton died Tuesday, June 8, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with clergyman Frank Mick officiating. The body will be cremated following the services. Burial will be held at a later date.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Melvin and Donna Joyce (Annis) Patterson, he was born Aug. 5, 1951, in Des Moines. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1969. On Nov. 20, 1993, he married Julie A. Goemaat in Newton. He was a concrete plant manager for Manatt's Inc. for 27 years. He attended Community Heights Alliance Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Eppstein of Burlington; seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Dawn Dee and Curtis Housman of Monroe, Teresa and Stephen Mackewich of Altoona, Mindy and Dave Samson of Sully, Erin Kriegel of Aviston, Ill., and Lisa and Jeff Annee, Nicole Haselhuhn and Ashley Haselhuhn, all of Newton; 10 grandchildren; his parents; and two brothers, Gene and Glenna Patterson and Roger and Lynn Patterson, all of Newton.

He was preceded in death his grandparents, Frank Sr. and Maude Annis and Jack (L.W.) Patterson; and a brother, Randy Patterson. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Thursday, June 10, 2004
