Alice Irene Munn, 100, of Newton died Tuesday, June 22, at Park Centre Health Care Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Wittemberg Church with the Rev. Roger E. Russell officiating. Burial will be at Wittemburg Cemetery in rural Newton. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Visitation and viewing will take place at the cemetery prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name to Wittemberg Cemetery Association.

The daughter of Charles Henry McCartney and Myrtle Zidma Hatsh, she was born Aug. 4, 1903, in Newton. She attended rural schools in the Wittemberg area. On Dec. 21, 1921, she married Forest Leslie Munn in Newton.

Mrs. Munn worked as a clerk for Leonards Ready Wear clothing store for 25 years. She retired in 1968. She was a member of Wittemberg Church and enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Inis McConkey. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Wednesday, June 23, 2004
