BAXTER -- Elsie Lydia Munger, 91, formerly of Baxter, died Monday, June 21, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name to Calvary Lutheran Church of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence of Lewiston, N.Y., or the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

The daughter of Anna and Lou Saak, she was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Jasper County. She graduated from Baxter High School and attended the former University of Commerce in Des Moines. She was secretary to the plant records engineer of the former Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines. She married Ralph Leo Munger. She lived in the DeVeaux area of Niagara Falls since 1955.

Until recent years, she was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a 30-year volunteer at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. She actively participated as a member in the Social Studies Club, St. James Senior Citizens and the Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann and Irvin Anderson of Hurricane, Utah, and Linda Lou and Christopher Haney of Apex, N.C.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Wesley Saak; and a sister, Dehlia Kruse. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Friday, June 25, 2004
