GLADBROOK -- Eunice Irene Meador, 76, of Gladbrook, died Saturday, June 26, at Westbrook Nursing Home in Gladbrook.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with Lieutenant Ronald Cook of The Salvation Army in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call today at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name or to Cedar Valley Hospice.

The daughter of Ivan and Elizabeth (Mohler) Bell, she was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Reasnor. She attended Jasper County schools. On Oct. 4, 1970, she married Lawrence E. Meador in Missouri. She worked as a nurse's aide in private homes, nursing homes and at Jasper County Care Facility. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the 500 Card Club, both in Gladbrook. She enjoyed painting ceramics, playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Eva Bell of Gladbrook and Jerry and Wanda Waits of Knoxville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Rexroat of Newton and Alyce Heck of Pleasantville; a brother, William Bell of Gladbrook; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and an infant sister. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Monday, June 28, 2004
