BAXTER -- Douglas E. Johnston, 46, of Baxter died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Sunday, June 20, in Polk County.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Brooks Funeral Care of Clive is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at his home, located at 7779 N. 95th Ave. W. in Baxter. Memorial contributions will be used according to the wishes of the family.

The son of Dorothy and John Johnston, he was born Oct. 11, 1958, in Marshalltown. He was a member of Iowa Club Lamb Association and enjoyed raising and showing sheep. He worked for Hofer Farms and was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Makayla of Baxter; his mother of Baxter; a sister, Debra, of Baxter; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Carlene of Madison, Wis.; two nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
