DALLAS, Texas -- Jamie R. Hartgers, 29, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Baxter died Wednesday, June 9.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton with the Rev. Michael Dack officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name or to Heartland Hospice of Dallas and may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service.

The son of Alvin G. and Laura H. (Comstock) Hartgers, he was born May 28, 1975, in Newton. He was a graduate of Baxter High School in 1993 and a graduate of Iowa State University in 1997. On Nov. 28, 2003, he married Catrina M. Horn in Dallas, Texas. He was a librarian for Baylor University Dental College in Dallas and was a member of the Greenland Hills United Methodist Church in Dallas. He grew up in Baxter and moved to Dallas, Texas, in 2002.

Survivors include his wife; parents; two brothers and sister-in-law, Jon and Deb Hartgers of Maxwell and Jacob Hartgers of Newton; maternal grandmother, Helene Comstock of Newton; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Barb Hartgers of Newton; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Comstock. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Friday, June 11, 2004
