GRINNELL -- Irene Graham, 98, of Grinnell, formerly of Lynnville, died Friday, June 11, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Lynnville Friends Church with the Rev. Peter Schuler and the Rev. Jeffrey Lee officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery near Lynnville.

Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning at noon Sunday where the family will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Lynnville Friends Church.

The daughter of Ira and Sarah (Lautenbach) Brand, she was born Feb. 8, 1906, near Sully. She received her education in a rural school near Sully. On Jan. 14, 1926, she married Ernest A. Graham at her parent's home near Sully. The couple farmed in the Oak Grove community, south of Grinnell, until 1943 when they moved to a farm west of Lynnville. In 1986, they retired from farming and moved to Grinnell. She was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and Lynnville Garden Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn K. Meredith of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond Brand of Pella and Carroll Brand of Cameron, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Norman Graham; and a sister, Vera Voss. ~ Newton (IA) Daily News, Saturday, June 12, 2004
