Helen Louise Decker, 66, of rural Newton died Monday, June 21, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Swan-Law Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colo. Pence-Reese Funeral Home of Newton is handling arrangements. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Friends may call Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Swan-Law Funeral Home; 501-N. Cascada in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The daughter of Earl Henry Chew and Christine Louise Prosser, she was born June 23, 1937, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1954. She has been a resident of the Newton area since 1987. On April 16, 1963, she married Bernard James "Jim" Decker in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and different bowling clubs.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Decker of Newton; her son, Mark Bernard Decker of Brooklyn, N. Y.; two daughters, Christine Louise Nida of Newton and Susan Lynn Decker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Jean Mohilo of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Diane Boblasky of Denver, Colo.; and many neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Charles E. Wright. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, Tuesday, June 22, 2004
