Dorothy C. Skinner, 85, of Newton died Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Newton with the Rev. Howard Vrankin officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family will greet friends with a luncheon at the church following burial. Memorials will be accepted to First Lutheran Church, Hospice of Jasper County or Good Samaritan at Park Centre and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the morning of the service.
The daughter of Carl M. and Stella (Brown) Lust, she was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Earlham. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1935. On March 4, 1939, she married Howard C. Skinner in Harlan. She worked at Denniston and Partridge Lumber Yard from 1936 to 1940 and at Newton Manufacturing Company from 1957 until she retired in 1977. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. She lived in Reasnor and Newton.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Ronald Vogt of Lincoln, Neb., and Helen and Channing Robinson of Yale; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
