Mrs. Malmberg Passes Away
Death Came After Illness of Almost Three Years – Funeral Tomorrow
Mrs. Nellie Malmberg died at her home at 410 East 4 ˝ Street South, Sunday morning at 10:00 o’clock. The funeral will be held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., after which the remains will be interred in the Newton cemetery. The funeral services will be in charge of Rev. R. B. Helser, of the Christian church.
The deceased has been in poor health for the past three years and death was due to a complication of diseases. Mrs. Nellie Malmberg was born in Malmo, Sweden, October 15, 1842, moving to Knoxville, Ill., shortly after the close of the Civil war, where she resided with her parents. She was united in marriage to Nels K. Malmberg in 1875. Shortly after the marriage she moved with her husband to Kellogg, Iowa, later moving to Newton. To this union were born six children – four boys and two girls, four of whom survive her. The children are: Mrs. Ida Day, of Chicago; Oscar, Charles and Edw. P., of Newton. Josephine Malmberg having died in 1900 and Fred several years ago.
The deceased was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church and was a devoted Christian woman.
