James Trusler Dies Tuesday
Has Been Ill for Greater Part of Spring and Summer with Dropsy – No Funeral Arrangements Announced.
James William Trusler died Tuesday night after an illness of six months suffering from dropsy at the home of his son Charles with whom he makes his home. Mr. Trusler had been in failing health for almost a year for the most part of the late spring and summer he has been confined to the house and much of that time he has spent in his bed.Mr. Trusler is one of the pioneer settlers of the county having lived in the Ira neighborhood for more than 40 years. He was of a friendly and sociable nature, always keeping a hospitable home for his many friends. His interest in the up building of the community and county of which he was a part will make his death a distinct loss to Jasper county.
James William Trusler was born near Zanesville, Ohio, March 3, 1848 and at the age of 1 he came with his parents to Davenport, where he lived until he was 17 years old when the family came to Jasper county. The Trusler family settled near Ira. When Mr. Trusler was 23 years of age he married Henrietta Stern and the couple settled on a farm which was their home for 40 years. After Mrs. Trusler’s death three years ago, his son Charles moved to the old homestead and Mr. Trusler has continued to live there.
He is survived by his sons, Charles and James A. of Newton, Ray of Madison, Wisconsin, and his daughters, Mrs. Seymour Howard of Pleasantville, Iowa, Mrs. Clyde Wright of Knoxville, and Mrs. John Miller of Ira. No arrangements for the funeral have been announced.
