Heart Attack Fatal Today To Mrs. C. K. Woodin
Was Wife of Maytag Company Chief Experimental Engineer.
Body to Be Taken To Rock Island, Ill., For Rites And Burial Monday
Mrs. Charles K. Woodin, 45, wife of the chief experimental engineer of The Maytag company, died unexpectedly this morning as the result of a heart attack.
Although Mrs. Woodin had been in poor health for some time, her death about 8:30 this morning came as a shock to relatives and friends. She had been suffering with Addison’s disease for several years.
Mrs. Woodin’s death closely follows those of her son, Charles K. Woodin, jr., 22, who died Feb. 5, in Elgin, Ill., and of her father-in-law, S. J. Woodin, 85, of Rock Island, Ill., who died July 8. The son, a student at George Washington University, died of pneumonia in an Elgin hospital.
Funeral Rites
Funeral services for Mrs. Woodin will be held Monday in Rock Island, Ill., her former home, with rites at St. Joseph’s church and interment in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodin came to Newton only last December, when Mr. Woodin accepted the position with the Maytag company. Since then, they have been living in Mrs. A. M. Bergman’s home at 629 First Avenue East.
Before coming here, they lived for a year in Detroit, Mich., where Mr. Woodin was connected with the Borg – Warner corporation. Prior to that time, Mr. Woodin was an official for 12 years of the Meadows company at Bloomington, Ill., where they made their home most of their married life.
Married 24 Years
Blanche Smith Woodin was born in Rock Island, Ill., Nov. 2, 1891, and grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage in Rock Island to Charles K. Woodin 24 years ago today.
Surviving relatives include her husband; two sons, Thomas, 21, a student at George Washington University, and Robert, 12, an eighth grade pupil in the Newton schools, and four sisters and two brothers, all of Rock Island, Ill.
The son, Thomas, had planned to leave for Washington, D. C., tonight to enter his junior year at the university.

Woodin Funeral Will Be Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles K. Woodin, who died here Friday, will be held at Rock Island, Ill., Monday. Mr. Woodin, and two sons, Thomas and Robert, left for Rock Island Friday night.
Several Newton people, including Father T. J. McCann and W. Neal Gallagher, are planning to attend the services in St. Joseph’s church. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.
