Mrs. Wolcott, 88, of Monroe Dies
Funeral Services to be Held in Monroe Sunday Afternoon
MONROE – Mrs. Mary Ellen (Kisor) Wolcott, 88, resident of Monroe for 35 years, died today at 6 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Faye Porter.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 p.m. from the Porter home, with the Rev. J. M. Carlson of the Baptist church in charge. Burial will be at Union Mills, Ia., beside her husband, who died about three years ago.
Before coming to Monroe, Mrs. Wolcott and her husband spent the early part of their married life in New Sharon and lived for two years at Lamoni.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four children.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Will Wolcott of Georgetown, Colo., and James Wolcott of Monroe, and two daughters, Mrs. Bess Porter and Mrs. Edith Murray of Monroe.

MONROE – Mary Ellen (Kisar) Wolcott was born near Findley, Ohio, Oct. 12, 1848, and died at Monroe, Ia., Feb. 26, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 14 days.
She moved to Iowa when 3 years of age. Her childhood was spent near Union Mills, Iowa.
On July 4, 1869, she was married to Wallace T. Wolcott. For a time they lived near Union Mills, later they moved to a farm near Lamoni, Ia.; and in 1901 they came to Monroe, Ia., where they have resided ever since.
Mr. Wolcott preceded her in death in the spring of 1934. Had he lived about three months longer they would have observed their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wolcott, five dying in infancy. The surviving children are William W. Wolcott, of Georgetown, Colo.; Edith Ann Murray, Bess L. Porter and James Frank, of Monroe, Ia. There are also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Andrew Jackson Kisar, of Pierce, Colo.
Mrs. Wolcott was baptized when sixteen years of age and became a member of the Christian church at Union Mills, Ia. Later when she came to Monroe, she affiliated with the Baptist church.
Funeral services were conducted at the Fay Porter home at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. R. R. Moser in charge. There were also short services at the Union Mills cemetery, where burial was made. Pallbearers were Cornie Huigen, Horace Cash, Harry Worth, George Rose, Ralph Gloyd and Jack Andeweg.
