Mrs. Waters, 60, Dies Wednesday
Heart Ailment Proves Fatal After Shopping Trip to Prairie City
PRAIRIE CITY, Ia. – Mrs. Peter Waters, twice widowed, died at 60 years old in her home south of here Wednesday night. Mrs. Waters had been in apparent good health and had been shopping in Prairie City Wednesday.
She was found dead in her bed. Dr. A. E. McMurray, county coroner, said there will be no inquest.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in Vandalia, Ia., with the Rev. J. H. Findley of Prairie City in charge.
Relatives in this community surviving are a son, Cecil Johnson, and three daughters, Mrs. John Stoner, Mrs. Cleo McReynolds and Mrs. Frank Thomasson.

PRAIRIE CITY – Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Waters were held from the Vandalia church Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, with the Rev. J. H. Findley of Prairie City in charge.
Music was furnished by Mrs. C. C. Neff and Mrs. Earl Williams who sang “In the Garden,” “Beautiful Isle of Some Where,” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” with Dessa Blodgett accompanist.
Pall bearers were Lester Ver Dught, Ray Coy, Richard Brunner, Charles Brunner, Clarence Walker and Steven Vos.
Mrs. Waters died unexpectedly at her home south of Prairie City Sept. 9, at the age of 55 years.
Surviving relatives include seven children, Mrs. John Stoner, Cecil and Carol Johnston all of Prairie City, Mrs. Minnie Thomasen of Monroe, Mrs. Cleo McReynolds and Clyde and Albert Waters all of Prairie City, four sisters, Mrs. Lettie Surbur and Mrs. Louie Calvert of Prairie City, Mrs. Minnie Hall of Cascade, Mont., Mrs. Lester Squires of Winterset and two brothers Carl Porter of Prairie City and Will Porter of Newton.
