Joe Trease, 81, of Near Kellogg Dies Before Noon
KELLOGG – Joe Trease, 81, resident of Jasper county over 60 years, died today at 11:00 a.m. at his home one and one-half miles west of Kellogg.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Carrie Trease; three daughters, seven sons, and one brother, George L. Trease, of Lynnville, 93.
No funeral arrangements have been made.

To Hold Trease Services Sunday
KELLOGG – Funeral services for Joe Trease, 81, who died at his home near Kellogg, will be held from the Christian church in Kellogg Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

KELLOGG – Funeral services for Joseph Trease, pioneer county resident, who died at his home one and one-half miles west of Kellogg Friday morning, April 16, were held at the Christian church Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock with Rev. R. T. White, pastor of the local M. E. church in charge of the rites.
A short prayer service was held at the Madsen Funeral home preceding the church service, in charge of Rev. White and a special request number “Will There be Any Stars in My Crown?” was sung by William Milligan of Grinnell and his daughter Mrs. Sam Barr, of Kellogg with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Earl Trout.
Special music at the church service included three hymns “Beautiful Isle,” “Jesus Savior Pilot Me” and “God Will Take Care of you,” sung by Mrs. Earl Trout and Mrs. Charles Davis with accompaniment by Mrs. R. T. White.
The pall bearers were Charles Meyer, F. Stepp, Earl Trout, Fred Simbro, and Charles Richardson of Kellogg and Jay Meyer of Newton. Burial was made in the family lot in Our Silent City.
Joseph Trease was born near Lynnville July 13, 1855 and died at his home near Kellogg April 16. His death came suddenly after he had helped with some work in the morning.
He was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Rice Sept. 28, 1862 and 13 children were born to them. Two sons preceded their father in death.
Those surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Clara Williams of Bruinswick, Nebr., Mrs. Lucille Davis of Grinnell, and Mrs. Verbie McGinty of Kellogg; eight sons, Celas and Harlan of Newton, Jay and Joshua or Orchard, Nebr., Charles who resides north of town, Carl, Clyde and Walter at home, and one brother George Trease of Lynnville, and a number of grandchildren.
