Banker Dies Riding in Car
Carl Sexton, President of Mitchellville Bank, Dies This Morning
PRAIRIE CITY – Carl Sexton, 65, president of the Farmers Savings bank at Mitchellville, died this morning while riding in an automobile south of Prairie City.
Mr. Sexton was riding with Frank Moss, cashier of the Mitchellville bank. The two men had been looking at some land near Vandalia this morning. Mr. Moss was driving and Mr. Sexton was sitting in the rear seat.
According to Mr. Moss, they were on the road about four miles south of Prairie City when he turned around to speak to Mr. Sexton and saw him slumped down in the back seat.
Mr. Moss drove to the next farm house and telephoned to Prairie City for a doctor, but the bank president had apparently been dead several minutes.
It was reported here that Mr. Sexton had suffered from heart trouble for some time.
