KELLOGG – Mrs. Dora Schultz, 76, member of The Daily News Three Quarter Century club died unexpectedly Sunday night at the home of a son, August Schultz, at Kellogg.
Second Death
The death of Mrs. Dora Schultz, 76, of Kellogg marks the second death in three days among relatives of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. August Schultz. The younger Mrs. Schultz was a cousin of Patsy Turner, who was killed in the bus-train crash at Mason City Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Schultz was sitting in the kitchen of the home, when she was taken suddenly ill. She died ten minutes later at about 7:00 o’clock.
Although definite funeral arrangements have not been completed, the rites have been set for some time Wednesday.
Mrs. Schultz was born in Germany, May 28, 1861, and had been a resident of Des Moines, before coming to Jasper county in 1894.
Mrs. Schultz’ six children survive. They are F. W. Schulz of Lisle, Mo., Mrs. Taylor Clark, Mrs. Harry Ray, August and Henry Schultz, all of Kellogg and E. H. Schultz of Chicago.

KELLOGG – Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Schultz, 76, who died suddenly at the home of her son here Sunday evening, Oct. 24, were held at the Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 27, following a short prayer service at the son’s home. Rev. A. H. Braun, pastor of the local church, was in charge of the rites.
Music for the services included two solos “Sweetly Resting” and “Abide With Me” sung by Mrs. Robert Reichelt with organ accompaniment by Mrs. George Redding.
The pall bearers were grandsons and nephews, L. A. Hasselbrink, Hugo Hasselbrink, and Dale, Vernon and Raymond Clark and Everett Bell. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. P. E. Coon and Mrs. Andrew Edwards.
Burial was made in the family lot in Our Silent City.
Dora Wulf was born at Gammendorf on the Island of Fehrmarn in the province of Schleswig, Germany, May 28, 1861, the daughter of Joachim and Anna Wulf.
She was confirmed in the faith of the Lutheran church in early life and was a member of the church here at the time of her death.
She came to this country at the age of 22 years locating at Des Moines, Ia., where she was united in marriage to August Schultz. Nine children were born of this union, three of whom, John, Annie and Katie, died in early childhood.
The family came to Jasper county to live about 40 years ago, residing on a farm north of town until the last twenty years where she has made her home with her son here in town. Her husband preceded her in death July 10, 1917.
She had enjoyed good health until the past few years, and had recovered from a paralytic stroke which she suffered last March enough to be able to attend church services and go out some.
Those surviving are four sons, Henry and August of Kellogg, Earl of Chicago and William of Lisle, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Taylor Clark of Grinnell and Mrs. Harry Ray of this place; two sisters, Mrs. William Schultz and Lena Wulf of Chicago; three brothers, Henry Wulf of this place; Hans Wulf of Mitchellville; Carl Wulf of Louisville, Kan.; 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Among those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. August Shuman, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Wulf of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Harve Paul and Mrs. Dora Wulf of Laurel; Mr. and Mrs. Hans Wulf of Mitchellville; Mrs. Mabel Haines and daughter of Des Moines; Earl Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz and daughter Rudy, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Schultz, Chicago; Carl Wulf of Louisville, Ky.; and Mrs. Will Hasselbrink, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hasselbrink, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kooistra, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gross, and C. B. Hennings of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hasselbrink and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Ebert of Gilman; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Hasselbrink, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Clark and E. C. Turner of Grinnell; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Bell of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz of Lisle, Mo.; Mrs. Edward Castorf of Sully.
