Mrs. Peterson Dies at 30 Years
Three Blood Transfusions Fail to Save Life of Young Newton Woman
Mrs. Clarence Peterson, 30, wife of a Maytag factory employee and mother of three small children, died Sunday at 4:30 a.m. at the Skiff hospital following a three-week serious illness.
In a valiant but futile effort to save her life, three blood transfusions were performed, the donors being Mrs. Hubert Peterson, wife of a nephew, and Claude Hall.
Mrs. Peterson was taken to the local hospital Friday, Oct. 17, and had been seriously ill during that time. Her condition became critical about three days ago.
At her bedside, besides her husband, were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank I. Keeton, and a sister, Mrs. John Filmore, who arrived from Strathmore, Calif., a week ago.
Funeral Rites
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from the United Brethren church at Lovilia, and interment will be in the Indiana Chapel cemetery at Attica, Ia. The body will be at the Morgan funeral home until Tuesday noon.
Opal Margarete Peterson, daughter of Frank L. and Lannie M. (Rice) Keeton, was born at Lovilia, Ia., April 23, 1907.
She was married at Lovilia to Clarence Peterson on Christmas day in 1934. They farmed for a few years near Hiteman, Ia., coming to Newton about nine years ago.
In California
They continued to live in Newton with the exception of about eight months spent in California.
Mr. Peterson is employed in the aluminum foundry of the Maytag factory. The family lives on the Greencastle road at the northwest edge of Newton.
Surviving relatives include her husband; three children, Carolyn, 11, Victor, 9, and Donna Joy, 3; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank I. Keeton, and three sisters, Mrs. John Filmore, Mrs. Donald Funk and Jean Keeton, all of Strathmore, Calif.

Rites Held For Mrs. Peterson
Funeral Services For Newton Resident Conducted At Lovilia, Ia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence Peterson, 30, local resident, were conducted from the United Brethren church at Lovilia, Ia., Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. and Mrs. Lawrence Hight of Chillicothe, Ia.
Interment was in the Indiana Chapel cemetery at Attica, Ia., with the following serving as pall bearers: George Land, Tom Bennett, Hubert Peterson, Don Thatcher, Lloyd Stewart and Clint Schwartz.
Mrs. Mary Wise and Mrs. Clarence Logsdon were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Mrs. Peterson died Sunday at the Skiff hospital, following a three-week serious illness.
A native of Lovilia, Ia., she had resided in Newton with her husband for the past nine years.
Surviving relatives include her husband; three children Carolyn, 11, Victor, 9, and Donna Joy, 3; her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Frank I. Keeton, and three sisters, Mrs. John Filmore, Mrs. Donald Funk, and Jean Keeton, all of Strathmore, Calif.
