Mrs. Merritt of Newton Dies
Local Resident Dies Sunday Night at Ottumwa; Bring Body Here
Mrs. Walter Merritt, 45, 502 West Second Street South, died Sunday at 11:00 p.m. at a sanitarium in Ottumwa, following a prolonged illness since July 1928.
The body was brought to Newton to the Murdoch funeral home, where local friends may call until Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held in Macksburg, Ia., Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment will be in the Macksburg cemetery.
Mrs. Merritt came here with her husband three years ago, the latter being employed at the Maytag company.
Mrs. Merritt was born in Madison county, Ia., Oct. 8, 1891, the daughter of Andrew and Nancy (King) Edgington.
Immediate survivors are her husband, and a daughter, Clella.
