W. E. Mercer, 79, Dies At Colfax
Reasnor Farmer Dies at Home of Daughter in Colfax Saturday
REASNOR – W. E. (Ed) Mercer, 79, of near Reasnor died Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ed Ziegelmaier, at Colfax.
Mr. Mercer, who had been in poor health, had gone to Colfax Friday to visit in his daughter’s home.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Reasnor Methodist Episcopal church and interment will be in the Hewitt cemetery.
Mr. Mercer had spent nearly all of his life on the farm four miles south of Reasnor, with the exception of a few years in Galesburg and Colfax. His wife died 41 years ago.
Surviving relatives include a son, Elmer of near Reasnor; four daughters, Mrs. Ziegelmaier of Colfax, Mrs. Mabel Bishop of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. James Williams of Colfax, and Mrs. C. C. Covey of Des Moines, and four grandchildren.

Conduct Rites For W. E. Mercer
Funeral Services For Jasper County Farmer held at Reasnor
REASNOR – Funeral services for W. E. Mercer, 79, were conducted from the Methodist Episcopal church in Reasnor Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. R. E. Hodgson of Fort Des Moines, assisted by Rev. W. W. Watson, local pastor.
Music was furnished by a quartet, composed of Mrs. Julia Brodersen, Mrs. Myrtle Graffis, George Tool and Clarence Tool, Mrs. Lilly Guthrie played the accompaniment.
Pallbearers
Interment was in Hewitt cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Morgan Woody, Henry Woody, Robert Rohrdanz, Earnie Rohrdanz, Arthur Wheeler and Clyde Romans. Mrs. Grace Lust and Mrs. Stella Lust were in charge of the flowers.
Mr. Mercer died Saturday in Colfax at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alta Ziegelmaier, following a brief illness. He had gone to Colfax on Friday for a visit.
William Edgar Mercer, son of Alfred and Sarah Mercer, was born in Logan, O., April 4, 1858.
