Colfax Woman Dies in Iowa City Wednesday Night
COLFAX – Mrs. Fern McCollum, 26, of Colfax, died Wednesday at the University hospital in Iowa City, where she _____ Sunday. A post-mortem examination revealed that her ____ six-week illness were ___ heart disease.
Mrs. McCollum, graduated from Colfax high school, celebrated her twenty-sixth birthday on Oct. 6, 1936. She was graduated in 1929.
Her mother, Mrs. Ella Cross ___ the West End grocery and her husband, Robert McCollum, ____ the service station in ___ with the store.
Surviving relatives include her husband and mother, two brothers Delbert and Royal Cross, and her grandfather, George Berkshire, all of Colfax. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Cross.

McCollum Rites To Be Held In Colfax Sunday
COLFAX – Funeral services for Mrs. Fern Cross McCollum, 26, who died Wednesday at the University Hospital in Iowa City, will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Christian Church in Colfax, by the Rev. Theodore Morning of the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
Mrs. McCollum is survived by her husband, Robert McCollum; her mother, Mrs. Ella Cross, two brothers, Delbert and Royal Cross and her grandfather, George Berkshire, all of Colfax. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Cross, and a brother, Robert Cross.

COLFAX – Funeral services for Mrs. Ferne Cross McCollum were conducted Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. from the Christian church, with Rev. Theodore Morning, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was made in the Colfax cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Runyan, Dave Owens, Claude Stevens, Arthur Roberts, Milo Stevens, and T. Jones, the latter of Newton.
Mrs. Ray Runyan, Mrs. E. S. Calhoon and Mrs. Bert Umphress were in charge of the flowers.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. George Robinson, Gomer Williams, and B. F. Van Dyke, who sang “Garden of Prayer,” “Sometime We’ll Understand” and “No Night There” accompanied by Mrs. George Rinker.
Ferne Cross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Cross, was born Oct. 6, 1910, at Colfax and died at the University Hospital at Iowa City Jan. 6, at the age of 24 years and 3 months.
She attended the Colfax schools and was graduated with the class of 1929. She was also a graduate of the University of Commerce.
On August 17, 1933 at Bethany, Mo., she was united in marriage to Robert McCollum whom survives.
She was a member of the Rainbow Order for Girls and the Church of Christ.
Besides her husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ella Cross, two brothers, Royal and Delbert and her grandfather, George Berkshire, all of Colfax.
Her father, Ray C. Cross, and a brother, Robert, preceded her in death.
